For over 50 years, Catholic Charities Lourdeshouse Maternity Home has provided services to pregnant women in need of a stable residence and a supportive environment to plan for the healthy birth and care of their unborn child.

 The Lourdeshouse Maternity Home offers shelter and services to pregnant women who are striving to make healthy decisions for themselves and their infants. Through collaborative counseling and case work services, women are assisted through their pregnancy and also supported in becoming self-sufficient in meeting the needs of their family.

 The program accommodates up to 12 women and their infants at one time. Maternity care staff provides a nurturing family-like environment during the course of offering/facilitating the following key services; counseling, adoption placement, parenting education, pre/post-natal care, education, work experience and aftercare planning.

 Should the decision be made to place the baby for adoption, much internal support is available through Catholic Charities Adoption Services program, the Capital Counseling Office and the program maternity services. These agencies serve to assist both the mother and the child in what is often a difficult and painful decision.

 The Lourdeshouse program, Adoption and Specialized Foster Services,  the Lebanon Counseling Office, the Northern Counseling Office and the York Intensive Family Services program are enrolled in the statewide “Real Alternatives” program which attempts to provide alternatives to women considering abortion through counseling and supportive services.

 Lourdeshouse Maternity Home also operates a community pantry providing food, clothing and furniture to expectant parents or families with children up to 12 months of age. Available items include diapers, baby toiletries, undershirts, sleepers, blankets, clothing, pacifiers, bottles, formula and baby furniture. The pantry is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and by appointment. There is no charge for these any of these supplies.  The Lourdeshouse Maternity Home is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children and the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Organizations. Program services are offered to women regardless of religious affiliation an/or ability to pay..
